APPLE CIDER VINEGAR FOR DOGS TEETH
A natural and non-toxic option to your dog’s dental care
Using apple cider vinegar as part of your dog’s dental care routine can help reduce bacteria, freshen breath, and prevent plaque buildup.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) can be used as a natural and gentle cleaner to help maintain your dog’s dental hygiene. However, it should be used in moderation and properly diluted to avoid irritation. Here’s how you can use apple cider vinegar to clean your dog’s teeth:
Tooth Rinse
Tools: Cotton balls or pads, or a soft cloth.
Method: Dip the cotton ball or pad into the diluted ACV solution. (see below)
Gently rub it over your dog’s teeth and gums, focusing on areas with plaque buildup.
Homemade Dog Toothpaste
1 teaspoon of coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar dilution
Method: Mix all ingredients to form a paste. Use a dog toothbrush or your finger to apply the paste to your dog’s teeth. Gently brush in circular motions, paying special attention to areas with plaque.Use the ACV rinse or toothpaste once or twice a week to prevent tartar buildup and maintain oral health.
Important Notes
Consult with a Vet: Before incorporating ACV into your dog’s dental care routine, it’s always a good idea to consult with your veterinarian, especially if your dog has existing dental issues or is prone to sensitive gums.
Do Not Overuse: ACV is acidic, and excessive use can potentially damage tooth enamel or irritate the gums. Always use it in moderation and if any redness or reactions occur, consult your veterinarian.
