Janet & Charlotte Mansley

Janet & Charlotte Mansley
Meet a mother-daughter duo, who ride with heart and have trusted The NRG Team’s feeding and grooming products to help their horses stay healthy and strong for over 20 years!
Charlotte and Janet compete in a variety of all-around classes, including Showmanship, Horsemanship, Hunter under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Trail, Ranch Riding, and Western Pleasure, as well as non-traditional events like Dressage, Hack, and Show Hunter.
As a third-generation Funeral Director working with her parents, Janets job involves long and emotionally draining days. However, her strong family support, allows her to balance work, family and riding. Janet’s incredibly supportive husband takes care of everything at home, enabling Charlotte and Janet to train, travel, and compete.
“Horses offer me a much-needed escape from the demands of the real world, providing balance and helping me stay grounded”, Says Janet.
“Justin Hughes is my eyes on the ground and is there for me most mornings to ensure our training is on track. I’d be lost without his guidance, it’s the reason why I have come as far as I have in the Western world. We bounce everything off one another.”
The welcoming and supportive community is what initially drew Janet to Western riding. Despite the competitive nature of the events, there is a strong sense of camaraderie, and everyone is genuinely happy for each other’s successes, making them feel like one big family. Their show family includes wonderful people like Carol and Rachel Elliott, Yasmin Lee Steere, and Leonie Gorski. Carol, as a judge, provided valuable insights into riding patterns and judging criteria, while Rachel has been a big sister figure to Charlotte, offering guidance and support. Many others, have consistently offered help and advice, easing the transition from the English world into Western riding.
Charlotte tells us, “Mum enjoys a good road trip, and I love the time we get to spend together driving all over the country to get to shows! She pushes me to be the best I can be, and it’s so rewarding when we can celebrate our successes together.”
Charlotte has just moved from youth into the ranks of amateur. She is focusing on her university degree, juggling full time study and work along with riding and competing where possible. A good career is important to support her, so she can continue her riding passion.
“Horses make us humble, and we learn to appreciate the good days when everything goes right and the successes along the way. Work a little bit harder or differently on days that are not so good. Failures make us evaluate what we are doing, adapt our training or routines to ensure we are doing the best we can for each individual horse and to hopefully give us a better outcome next time.” Says Janet.
Stockgain is Janet and Charlotte’s top choice for traveling with horses to ensure they drink and eat on the road. We’ve relied on it for over 20 years and never travel without it. It’s definitely our favorite product!
Proplaits is simply a “must have” when it comes to holding bands and braids in place.
Janet has been a valuable friend to The NRG Team for many years and we would like to officially welcome her and Charlotte into our NRG Family.
