Meet Savvy!
“My name is Savannah, but everyone calls me Savvy. I’m 7 years old and was pretty much born on a horse!” Starting pony club as soon as she could join, Savvy has been riding ever since, proving that her love for horses is lifelong.

Show Jumping and Beyond
Savvy’s heart lies in show jumping. She has a real passion for it, even saying, “If I could jump my pony every day, I would!” Although she enjoys the occasional combined training day, her true love is jumping – she’ll even tell you that dressage isn’t her favourite! But she’s always eager to try new things and see what she and her pony, Billy, can accomplish.

Daily Life in the Stables
Every day starts bright and early for Savvy. Before heading to school, she and her mum go to the stables to feed the ponies, clean the stalls, and put their ponies out in the paddock. This dedication speaks volumes about their love for horses and the life they’ve built around them.

Mentors and Role Models
When it comes to influences, Savvy looks up to her mum, Taylor, who has shared countless stories of her own experiences in eventing. “I love hearing all her stories,” Savvy says, “but my mum’s a bit cautious about letting me go out on cross country!” She’s also inspired by her coach and dreams of jumping big jumps, just like her.

Riding Community and Friendship
What does Savvy love most about the riding community? The friendships! Riding with her friends and making memories in the ring brings her joy, and her favorite show memory is a perfect example: at her first competition with Billy, she came first after dressage and had a great time, even if they ultimately placed fifth. For her, it’s the fun of riding and seeing Billy succeed that matters most.

Valuable Life Lessons
Riding has taught Savvy many things, including the importance of resilience and learning from mistakes. “We say, ‘Sh*t happens,’” she shares, a reminder that both riders and ponies make mistakes. It’s a journey of practice and improvement, not perfection – a philosophy we love!
