Stuart Brennan

Position: Farrier & Showjumper

If you were to ask Stuart about his first memory of NRG Products, it would probably be when he was a 6-year-old, where Boyce placed his photo in a Stride Hoof Dressing magazine ad. Stuart explains that he was disappointed that they had used the wrong image, as he didn’t have his glasses on and if you look closely, he was cross eyed! Perhaps something to giggle at now but at the time, he was pretty upset!

Fast forward 10 years and a young Stuart swings his hammer with the precision his father, Mark taught him. Continuing a family tradition, Stuart began an apprenticeship as a professional farrier, with Mark, shoeing horses throughout the Yarra Valley and beyond.

When he first began his apprenticeship, Stuart shod NRG horses and is still shoeing them for Boyce to this day. Having seen many NRG products developed over the years, Stuart is aware of the time and effort and passion that goes in to creating our products, giving him the confidence to use them himself as well as recommending to others. Over the years, he has trialled and tested most NRG products before they were released.

Stuart’s horse-riding passion began at 5, but it was during his Pony Club days as a 10-year-old, where he really began to enjoy his riding. One of his inspirations was well known and respected Pony Club coach, Brenda Mitton. “She was tough, but we learnt so much from her”, says Stuart.

Stuart, his lovely wife Kristin and their boys Will and Sammy enjoy competing at Ag Shows together throughout Victoria and just across the NSW and SA border.  The Ag Show circuit means their whole family can enjoy their own disciplines; Stuart competes in the Show Jumping; Kristin competes in showing, dressage and some showjumping; Will and Sammy love travelling to shows and enjoy the fun show scene. The boys both love their ponies but are not really serious about riding consistently at the moment.

One of Stuarts main competition horses is Babalon, a 10 yo warmblood gelding bred by Stuarts parents and broken in by Stuart. They are currently enjoying the challenge of competing 1.30-1.35m in the show jumping circuits.

His other horse is a 5yo part thoroughbred mare, KVS Entitled that he has been taking along to shows purely for her experience as she is quite spooky. She was purchased as a yearling and now Stuart is just beginning to compete her.

We would love to officially welcome Stuart, Kristin and family into our NRG family and look forward to working together to keep our horses happy and healthy!
